All square after Cape Town derby


Santos nor Ajax Cape Town have taken the bragging rights in the Cape Town derby at Athlone Stadium last night. The game ended all square in a 1-1 draw.

The excited voices of fans and Vuvuzela's echoed throughout the stadium as Sanots and Ajax took to the field.

Many where expecting a cracker-jack of match and the supporters were duly rewarded when Mahudi Khanyeza had an attempt on goal in the eighth minute.

The crowd began to get restless as they waited for one of the teams to take the lead which didn't happe! n in the first period.

Later on in the half it was the People's team turn for an attempt on goal, Erwin Isaacs fed the ball to midfielder Tyren Arendse but he couldn't get his foot to the ball.

Santos fans jumped to their feet in the 38th minute when they thought their team had gone ahead but Erwin's Isaacs goal was ruled offside.

The Urban Warriors game out with guns blazing in the second half, they won a free within minutes of the restart freekick which Shameeg Doutie took but again his attempt was saved by Chansa.

It was all Ajax until Santos then got a corner and Captain Musa Oteino managed to score in the 51st minute after some fumbling in the area, the stadium bursts in roars of cheering.

With the way Ajax was playing they didn't not deserve to be a goal down, nonetheless they persisted and eventually it paid off.

The People's began throwing their all into defending their lead. ! However, Khanyeza capitalized on a defensive error by Santos a! nd equal ized for his team in the 82nd minute.

The result now leaves Ajax two points clear at the top as Santos remains in 5th spot.
