Repsol Honda will switch to Bridgestone in 2009

27 August 2008
Question over the move of giving Nakano the 2008 spec is finally answered, HRC wants to see how the current bike behaves on the Bridgestone's shod and what Michelin afraid of most was coming true, Nakano was faster 2.2 seconds during the race in each leaps. The performance makes Honda feel 'satisfied' that actually their bike is just fine, the problem mainly on the tyres.

After the race, Masumi Hamana (HRC President) held the meeting with his engineers and he said franky he doesn't understand (as an ! engineer) why Michelin failed to run in three series followed, the problems on the tyres were found. On Monday another meeting was held and there was no definite answer from Michelin whether they will improve in Misano or not.

That day (Brno), Masumi Hamana saw Dani Pedrosa, the only pilot that his team is in position to fight for the world title, just the penultimate race and dropped the rest of the pilots, as well as bereaved and embarrassed at not being able to fly your bike properly because of lack of adhesion of their Michelin tyres. Hamana was in pain to see his pilot struggle a lot.

When asked (by solomoto - thanks for the info again) whether they will approach Bridgestone to provide them the tyres next year, he answers briefly: YES!
